Edward Weston was born in 1886 in Highland Park Illinois. He grew up in Chicago and started photographing at the age of sixteen. In 1908 he attended the Illinois College of Photography in Effington, Illinois. He began his career working in soft-focus pictorial style, but in 1922 renounced his earlier style and started a new emphasis on abstract form and sharper detail. His works primarily consist of natural forms, close ups, nudes, and landscapes.
