Beaumont Newhall was born in 1908. He made many contributions to the photography field. He was the founding director of the photography department at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Newhall was honored by institutions such as the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and The Royal Photographic Society. He also wrote many books. Newhall died in 1993.
