Annie Leibovitz was born in 1949 in Waterbury, conneticut. She went to california to learn painting but changed to Photography her junior year after a trip to Japan. Her first job was given to her by the founder of Rolling Stone. Her first photo assignment was of John Lennon which graced the cover of the January 21, 1971 cover. Since then she has specialized in portraits and she has become known for evocative, spell binding, and controversial photos of celebrities and normal people alike. She was also named a living legend by congress and a Commandeur de Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the french government.
