I will give a high five...
False Flesh
So going along with my latest post is yet ANOTHER reason why you should NOT believe what you see on the internet! This software takes a regular picture of a person (you) and gives you what looks like your "birthday suit" I'm not sure if this is actually convincing to the naked eye (pun) but with the way technology and photoshop has advanced, I wouldn't be surprised if people actually believe it. The picture above is the ad for this False Flesh thing. Apparently lots of people have already used it (for wrong reasons, of course) and have come up with some very great results. So next time you're on facebook or check your e-mail and you see yourself or someone you know half naked...they might not be, then again...
Viewer beware.

Don't just a book by it's...nevermind, JUDGE!
I'm sure most of us at one point or another have looked at a magazine cover or a movie poster and wondered "damn, those are unreal abs" or "holy cow...they do NOT make eyes like hers" Well, you were right. A lot of what we see, wait, let me correct that, 99.999% of what we see in print ads, covers and posters is all fake. We see skinny models with no cellulite, pores, wrinkles or lower eye lids. Most of of (especially girls) think "I NEED TO LOOK LIKE THAT" and guys...you havent gotten away without thinking the same about some washboard abs, or muscular guns, because you have. We ALL have. Next time you see a cover, think about the person who did the work, a well paid photoshop guru, but don't get too jealous...sometimes those "photoshop geniuses" screw up, BAD. So, here's a link to some of the WORST photoshop "works" ever....I mean really...would it kill ya to double check your work?
I guess beauty IS in the eye of the....photoshopper?
Lux
Sooo...I'm not entirely sure what my fascination with these creeper pictures is BUT I'm really digging Loretta Lux right now. I don't know if it's because of how she interprets surrealism with pictures of kids, the crazy color in her work or the way she distorts children's faces, but something about this work is really appealing to me right now.
She has a series of "Works" on her website and she does a lot of manipulation. I'm so fascinated with the color she has in her works, it's usually pastels or real muted color pallets. Maybe that's what appeals to me? I'm also really captivated with the eyes these kids have. They look fake but not. I really hope no one has a kid that looks like that. If anyone can figure out how to turn a regular picture of a kid and make it Lux-ified...I'd really like to see it! Here's her website;

need a job?
Photogenic Inc. is a souvenir photography company. We take souvenir photographs at major tourist venues across the country. We take pictures at locations such as Navy Pier, the Willis Tower Skydeck, and Chicago Museums. We are looking to hire reliable, hard-working, and friendly staff to take and sell photos at our photo concession stands. You don’t need photography experience – just an eagerness to learn. The photography we do is fairly simple and easy to train. If you have the people skills, we can train you on the photography skills. The ideal candidate likes being outside, is energetic, has superb people skills, and can multi-task effectively. This is a customer service job as much as a photography job, so you have to be able to work with people! We do require at least 6 months experience in the field of customer service.
We are beginning to hire in preparation for the spring and summer high season. Hours will start part time with opportunity to move full time as it warms up. We have shifts that start from early morning and go until late in the evening, so we can accommodate many school schedules. Compensation is 8.25/hr. If you are interested, please email your resume to Emily Taylor at ChicagoJobs@PhotogenicInc.com. A resume is required for consideration.

Site
If you want to know more about photo stuff, equipment, share your own photos, view other peoples work, learn or shop check out this site. It's full of all kinds of things and it's all located in ONE site, which is nice.
You can even submit your work for anything from photo of the week or even get a chance to be a featured photographer on the site. It's a great place to network, too!
Good To Know
Hi all,
I just had a little chat with Mark who suggested I buy my photo paper from this website www.freestylephoto.biz
It's got a wide variety of anything photo. I really liked it and the prices are reasonable so next time you need to buy paper or anything photo related, check the site out and see if you like it!

Hey All,
I don't know how often you check your email but I just sent you a message to the effect of me being sick and not going to the art institute today. You should still go if you were planing and I will give you the full points for it if you bring your dated ticket and talk about what you saw next week. I hope you check your email regularly.

Oh HOLGA!
For those of you who want to continue taking photography you might want to check out and maybe try shooting with a Holga camera. Holgas are medium format cameras, made of plastic, usually has only 4 settings and only a few shutter speeds & F stops. Shoot with color film and usually has a vignette around the image. They're fairly easy to use but not totally to shoot with as they do let a lot of light in so cover up those light spots with black tape! We have Holgas available so once you've taken photo 2 and are STILL interested, ask Mark!
Darkroom?
If anyone is interested on making their own darkroom and doesn't know what to buy or where to start, I found a cool site that kind of gives you an idea of what you might need, types of chemicals and where to buy them. It also has links to famous darkroom photographers and where to buy things from darkroom equipment to cameras and paper. So if anyone is at all interested in starting up there own darkroom, this website might be helpful to you and you should definitely check it out!
Fixer Upper!
I found out that my shutter is sticking because my camera's gears are made out of plastic on the inside, so it's causeing problems with the shutter speed creating overexposed/fuzzy/blurry photos, it also creates a problem with winding the film back up. I'll be sending my camera in to this guy that lives somewhere in Illinois not quite sure where exactly and he's going to open her up and reset everything and make her like new again! I'll get her back in about a week and a half. Still thinking about getting a light meter though, it would make everything so much easier...I like the Sekonic L-308s I got from Nate but its 185-233$ depending where I go... Any ideas?
